DSWD DATABASE OF POOR IN CALABARZON LAUNCHED

The Department of Social Welfare and Development, through its Field Office IV-A leads Local Officials and Heads of National Government Agencies in the CALABARZON Region, in the ceremonial launching of the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) database of the poor through a symbolic 'touching' of the NHTS-PR glow signifying their cooperation and interest in the database.

DOLORES TO IMPLEMENT KALAHI – CIDSS MT

The municipality of Dolores in Quezon Province had been the pilot project of Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI – CIDSS) under the Department of Social Welfare and Development and had completed projects such as farm to market roads, day care centers, water system, school buildings and electrification under a community development approach and which later on led to positive changes in the municipality.

KALAHI-CIDSS GENERATES VOLUNTEERISM, JOBS FOR TOWN FOLKS

Fifty-one years old Estelito Hernandez or Mang Tito, is the volunteer-chairperson of the Barangay Subproject Management Committee of Camandiison, Catanauan, Quezon. Throughout the implementation of their project-1.89 kilometers farm-to-market road worth Php3M under the KALAHI-CIDSS program, he realized that the lack of education is not a hindrance in involving oneself in community development. “Hindi ko akalain kahit Grade 3 lang ang natapos ko, makakapagpatakbo ako ng malaking proyekto kagaya nito,” Mang Tito proudly related.

KALAH-CIDSS TRAINING FOR COOORDINATING TEAMS HELD

The Department of Social Welfare and Development recently conducted a five-day skills enhancement activity for implementers and local partners in the implementation of Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Service (KALAHI-CIDSS). The activity which was dubbed as “Area Coordinating and Municipal Coordinating Teams (ACT & MCT) Skills Enhancement Training” was held in Las Piñas City and was attended by 70 participants involved in the program implementation in the municipalities

QUEZON LGUs COMMIT SUPPORT TO KALAHI-CIDSS-MT IMPLEMENTATION

Nine Municipalities of Quezon Province targeted as Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services Makamasang Tugon (KALAHI-CIDSS MT) Project areas gave commitment to support the project implementation in their respective localities during a recent forum conducted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The forum, which was conducted by DSWD Field Office IV-A, primarily aims to discuss with local officials from the said municipalities the condition precedents for KALAHI- CIDSS MT implementation and the integration of the program processes with the planning, budgeting and development processes of the respective municipalities. Dir. Wilma D. Naviamos of DSWD IV-A, in her message to the forum’s participants highlighted the Departments’ goal of instilling among poor municipalities that KALAHI-CIDSS is a development strategy / approach which any Local Government Unit (LGU) apply in order to break the cycle of poverty. She also added that KALAHI-CIDSS MT is not separate from KALAHI CIDSS but an implementation modality under the project that provides performance based incentive grant, and supports LGU efforts for effective local governance.***
